School Tours 2010

Carroll's Pumpkin Farm is a fun and educational experience for children. We work hard to plan a great trip you and your children will remember.

Program

The children (and accompanying adults) will:

  1. Enjoy a wagon ride through our 8 acres of pumpkins on a wagon pulled by a John Deere tractor.
  2. Pick a pie pumpkin from the pumpkin field.
  3. Enjoy an age appropriate lesson about growing pumpkins. Then watch the demonstration of an antique corn sheller while sitting in the loft of our restored 70 year old barn.
  4. Jumping Punkin' Pillow! New for 2009
  5. Have a great time playing in the activity barns:
    • Grain Barn: filled with shelled corn, like a sand box only better!
    • Straw Barn: formerly a corn crib, filled with straw, complete with slides and rope for swinging.
    • TMX Trike Barn: great fun for riding TMX trikes!
    • Other Activities Include: Lookout Tree House, Turkey Bale, Golden Goat Bridge, (complete with goats to feed!), Wheelbarrow Course, and fall scenes and props designed for great fun, education, and picture taking.

Take Home

  1. A pie pumpkin in a special bag.
  2. Recipe cards of how to make a pumpkin pie and roast pumpkin seeds.
  3. Knowledge of how pumpkins grow and some history of farming.
  4. Lots of fun memories found only at Carroll's Pumpkin Farm!

Times

Tour times are 9:15, 10:45, and 1:00. The 10:45 time allows for eating lunch in the barn loft. Extended times are available, ask for availability.

Price

$6.00 per student and chaperone. No charge for teachers.

We can accommodate any number of adults and need to know how many are expected to come so that we can be prepared for the entire group. We do not want groups to become overcrowded and hard to manage the day of the tour. Please note that in event of a poor crop adults may not be able to take home a pumpkin and the price of the tour for the adults will be adjusted or another produce item substituted.

Food

You may bring your lunches or snacks. We also have a great concession stand which has hot dogs, popcorn, Iowa's best caramel apples, and more. If your group is interested in buying lunch or snacks, please make these arrangements when you call.

Weather

There are no weather related refunds. In case of inclement weather you may cancel or reschedule the trip without any obligation.

Cancellations

If necessary to cancel we appreciate your cooperation in giving us as much notice as possible, so that we may fill your scheduled time with those on the waiting list. If you do not call to cancel you will be billed for the number of students you booked to come.
